Jakarta, 16 May 2025.
On 16 May 2025, the NAM Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) had the honor of receiving a courtesy visit from Her Excellency Menissa Rambally, Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the United Nations and concurrently the Ambassador of Saint Lucia to Indonesia. The visit formed part of her official mission to Indonesia to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, H.E. Rambally expressed Saint Lucia’s strong interest in advancing technical cooperation with developing countries, particularly Indonesia. As a small island developing state (SIDS), Saint Lucia faces unique development challenges and sees immense value in training and capacity-building programs that can have immediate and lasting impact on local communities. In this regard, she conveyed a particular interest in a Training of Trainers (ToT) model, which she believes will empower national institutions and human resources to sustainably support development across sectors.
Saint Lucia also expressed a strong desire to take part in NAM CSSTC’s future training programs. The country identified key commodities with untapped potential that could benefit significantly from Indonesian expertise. These sectors are seen as vital to Saint Lucia’s strategy for value addition, economic diversification, and sustainability.
In addition, H.E. Rambally emphasized the importance of inclusive development. She voiced a keen interest in training programs tailored to youth and women, highlighting the active role of women’s organizations in Saint Lucian society and their influence in driving grassroots development. She expressed hope that collaboration with NAM CSSTC could contribute to Saint Lucia’s goal of building a more resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable future.
The visit reaffirmed NAM CSSTC’s commitment to supporting the development aspirations of fellow Global South countries and to promoting inclusive, context-sensitive, and capacity-driven cooperation that aligns with the principles of South-South solidarity.
