NAM CSSTC Director Highlights the Importance of Inclusive Multilateralism at “UN at 80” Discussion
Jakarta, 11 March 2026, The Director of the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South–South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), Ambassador M. Chandra Widya Yudha, participated in the seminar “UN at 80: Shaping the Future of Multilateralism”, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Indonesia in Jakarta. The event brought together representatives from the diplomatic missions, United Nations system, government institutions, international development partners, think tanks, and academics to exchange perspectives on the evolving role of multilateralism and the importance of strengthening global cooperation in addressing contemporary challenges.
During the discussion, the Director of NAM CSSTC shared reflections on the importance of inclusive and delivery-oriented multilateralism. His full remarks are as follows:
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
At the outset, allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Mochammad Chandra Widya Yudha. His Excellency Mr. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has appointed me as Director of the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South–South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC), succeeding Ambassador Diar Nurbintoro.
I would also like to thank all of the speakers for your insightful presentation.
Allow me to share two brief observations on today’s discussion and the role that NAM CSSTC can play in this endeavor.
First, safeguarding inclusive multilateralism amid growing geopolitical and geoeconomic fragmentation.
At a time when global governance is increasingly shaped by geopolitical rivalry, economic fragmentation, and a growing preference for unilateral or narrowly bilateral approaches, it is important to preserve multilateralism as an inclusive platform where the voices and development priorities of the Global South continue to be heard.
Second, ensuring that multilateralism remains delivery-oriented and responsive to development needs.
For multilateralism to remain credible and relevant, it must deliver tangible benefits on the ground. In this regard, NAM CSSTC seeks to contribute by strengthening solidarity and practical cooperation among developing countries through South–South and triangular cooperation, while also expanding partnerships with the United Nations system and development partners to support capacity-building, knowledge sharing, and technical cooperation initiatives.
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
As I am new to this community, I would very much welcome your views and insights on how we can further strengthen South–South cooperation.
I also look forward to exploring potential areas of collaboration based on our shared interests.
Thank you.
